I started browsing a few books on Amazon web services and realized that most of the scripting that they show as examples are written in Ruby. Guess I have to learn Ruby to do a little better at understanding the AWS (http://aws.amazon.com) code. Downloading the software right now and here are some quick references.

The first couple of weeks have been interesting. I spent most of the time to get Ruby, Rails and development kit installed. I had to install multiple copies as things seemed to fail multiple times when installing ruby documentation. However I am doing good with ruby 1.9.2/rails 3.1 with Aptana 2.05 radrails as the IDE. Read a few programs written by Matz in The Ruby Programming Language. So far it has been satisfying. One initial impression – Ruby is a whacky language but feature rich and thin weight. I love it already.
